Advantage Charters of Westport and Neah Bay

I went out last season (2007) with Capt. Geoff on the Advantage out of Neah Bay for the first Saturday of Halibut fishing and it was fantastic! It was my first time going for halibut, although I fish for salmon on Puget Sound regularly.

We traveled about 3 hrs out (I believe to Blue Dot), and on Geoffs command, let 'em down. Within 15 seconds of the gear hitting the bottom, the first fish was on. It took about 20 minutes for the 14 customers on board to all get thier limit of one halibut! Unreal. After that Capt. Geoff motored over to a second location, and we all got our 2 lingcod limits in about 40-45 minutes.

There were a number of other boats out there, private and charter, and from what we were hearing over the radio no one else was nailing them like we did - Capt. Geoff, you're the man! On the way over to fish for the lingcod, I told capt. Geoff that my first halibut fishing experince was kind of like wining and dining a woman all night long, just for 20 minutes of excitement and fun at the end. He grinned and said "Yeah, but you'd do it again tomorrow, wouldn't you?" Damn right!

I will definately be going out again this year, and there is no question as to which boat and captain I plan on going with.
