Originally constructed around 1930 as the "Birdie Hotel" to provide lodging for travelers that made the long trip from the "flat lands" of Southern California to enjoy the beauty and recreational activities of the Big Bear Valley and the azure blue waters of Big Bear Lake. Big Bear Sporting Goods has since become the outdoor enthusiast's premiere source for fishing bait and tackle (fishing pole rentals), camping gear, Hobie kayaks and a large selection of footwear and apparel for all seasons.
